About Humanetics

Humanetics traces its origins to Alderson Research Laboratories, founded in 1952 by Samuel W. Alderson, which built an anthropomorphic dummy for testing aircraft and spacecraft ejection seats, helmets and restraint systems. Alderson's VIP series of automotive dummies followed in 1966.

In 1999 Humanetics acquired the dummy development and manufacturing business of TNO Automotive. It has since grown through acquisitions including HITEC Sensors in Boston and Aerosense in the UK and Sri Lanka. The group says it now has 1000 employees across 26 facilities, with its corporate headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
