This policy explains what cookies and similar browser storage conference.as uses, why, and how you can manage your preferences at any time.
What’s a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. It lets the site remember things about your visit, like your consent choices, the next time you come back. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in the same way and are covered by this policy too.
How we manage consent
When you first visit, a banner lets you Accept all cookies, Decline non-essential ones, or Customise. Customise opens a dialog where you can switch each category on or off and then Save Settings, Accept All or Reject All. Until you choose, we set only strictly necessary storage and load no analytics that use cookies. The one exception is Simple Analytics, which sets no cookies and is described below. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the site footer.
Categories
- Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function, for example remembering your cookie choice and your light or dark theme. These can’t be switched off.
- Analytics. Helps us understand how people find and use the site: page views, referral sources and similar patterns. We use PostHog and Google Analytics for this. Only set if you consent. We also use Simple Analytics, which sets no cookies and so is not part of this choice (see below).
- Functionality and Experience. These categories appear in the preferences dialog but are not currently used. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.
- Marketing. Not currently used. We do not serve ads or track you across other sites. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated first.

Analytics without cookies
We also use Simple Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies and uses no browser storage, and its provider states that it does not store IP addresses or personal data. Because nothing is stored on your device, it runs whatever you choose in the cookie banner. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Requests that are not cookies
Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, and organiser icons load from Google’s favicon service. These requests do not set cookies, but they do send your IP address to Google, and they happen regardless of your cookie choice. The Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
Third-party cookies
The analytics cookies above are set by PostHog and Google. We don’t control them directly, but we only load them if you have consented to Analytics. Our newsletter and contact forms are processed by our providers but do not set cookies on this site.
Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Doing so may affect how parts of this site, and most other websites, work.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “last updated” date above.
